Acne not only affects the life of the victims, it even brings personal anguish to the patients and even reduces the self esteem of the person. Now having known the fact, it somehow gets important to get rid of acne and take some preventive measurements to stop it from getting worse. Particularly, one of the most important suggestions is to never squeeze, pick or pop up the acne lesion. This suggestion is highly considered; otherwise the condition may worsen which results in spread of the inflammatory process.

Apart from not disturbing the acne lesion, washing the face with mild soap water for at least two times a day can greatly help in preventing the onset of acne. This also stops spreading of the disorder. Just keep your face clean and dry and do not rub your face with a towel. Another good acne preventing approach is avoiding oil based skin products. Use only apply those products that are “noncomdomedogenic” and don’t clog pore. And if you can, you should also avoid irritants, for e.g, airborne grease from fast food centers, friction or rubbing from sporting tools as they may increase the condition. There are also few experts who suggest the use of anti-acne products to clear up the lesions as the best acne prevention technique one can take. You should note that the prevention move means for a number of weeks and even months.

Several acne prevention specialists have also suggested some nonprescription topical medications for preventing acne. Benzoyl peroxide is one such preventing agent that is often used today. This agent is an active one comparison to the other ones. The anti-bacterial component present in it fights the acne creating bacteria better than the other. Another similar acne prevention agent is salicylic acid. It is believed to be effective in reducing the abnormal shedding of the skin cells and also the hair follicles.

Other acne prevention agents are prescribed antibiotics that kill the bacteria. These products help in curing severe and swelling acne. One such antibiotic is Accutane. However, even though these antibiotics are very useful in fighting the bacteria, there are several side effects, for e.g, birth defects, dryness, redness, and irritation. So only take it if anything else does not seem to work out.
